M. Max Evans is a Doctoral Candidate in the Faculty of Information Studies at the University of Toronto.  He is also a Doctoral Member of the Knowledge Media Design Institute (KMDI). His research interests are in the area of knowledge management, focusing on motivators and inhibitors of organizational knowledge dissemination. Of specific interest is the role of trust as a major influence on knowledge sharing in organizations. Max is supervised by Professor Chun Wei Choo and Professor Anthony Wensley.

Prior to pursuing a post-secondary education, Max worked in a number of professional industries including finance, marketing, strategy (business and technology), management, and operations.  His clients ranged from small start up companies to Fortune 500 organizations.  Max has extensive experience in project management, strategy consulting, business analysis, and financial marketing. Max has also worked as an information architect and interaction designer.

 

Max has been active in academia over the last six years, five of those spent as an instructor at the University of Toronto in Mississauga. Max has designed and instructed a number of courses for the Communication, Culture, and Technology (Digital Enterprise Management) department, including the two courses he will teach in 2009-2010 (CCT325: Information Systems and MGD423: Technology in Organizations). Max has presented lectures in a number of other undergraduate and graduate courses and has worked extensively as both a teaching assistant and researcher. 

Max has published in his area and has recently designed a Knowledge Domain Process (KDP) Model that appears in a research article published in Knowledge and Process Management 16(4).

Max achieved his Masters of Information Studies (Emphasis in Information Systems) at the University of Toronto and is a Masters graduate of the Knowledge Media Design Institute (KMDI). Max also holds a Bachelors of Science in International Marketing (minor in philosophy) from Northern Illinois University’s business school, where he finished on the Deans List.
